FROM CHAPTER 9 - CELEBRATION
The awesome task of guiding your children in their schoolwork is one of the biggest challenges of parenting. Parents are the coaches who teach their children to become responsible for their own learning. Parents provide the emotional support for their children through the maze of school and homework. Parents, it is your patience and perseverance that serve as a source of strength for your children. Celebrating their successes is truly celebrating your parenting skills.
When your children reach benchmarks in their studying it is important for you to recognize these achievements. It is a tangible way to show you care and that you are interested in what they do. Teachers will tell you that there is a direct parallel between parental involvement and student success. Be sure to take the time to visit the school on a regular basis - for back to school events, concerts, sporting events, special programs, and parent/teacher conferences. Your children's success may depend on it.
